Ambassadors’ Week: Meet the Canadian and Belgian Ambassadors
The Council is proud to bring to Atlanta two important Ambassadors to the U.S. :
H.E. David Macnaughton, Ambassador of Canada to the U.S.
June 12, Monday, Reception + Evening Briefing
Join us welcoming the Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. David MacNaughton for an evening reception and discussion. It is set to be a great networking opportunity followed by a high-level fireside chat between H.E. MacNaughton and Dennis Lockhart, retired CEO and President of the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank. NAFTA will be on the top of the agenda, but NATO, border and climate change issues will also be addressed.
H.E. Dirk Wouters, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the U.S.
June 14, Wednesday, Lunch + Discussion
The Council presents a luncheon discussion with Belgian Ambassador Wouters. Do not underestimate Belgium by its size; it houses most of the EU institutions and the NATO headquarters. The U.S. has a $15 billion trade surplus with Belgium, and the country is the 8th largest investor in the U.S. In Brussels, on May 25, President Trump attended the NATO Summit and delivered some sharp words during his remarks – he called out NATO members to increase their financial commitments toward the alliance. Would you like to learn what really happened? Join us for this luncheon; Ambassador Shapiro will make sure to ask the Belgian Ambassador all you want to know about the behind-the-scenes.
