Learn More About WorldQuest

Academic WorldQuest is a game that tests competing teams’ knowledge of international affairs, geography, history and culture. Each spring, the winning teams from local competitions across the country gather in Washington, D.C., near the headquarters of the World Affairs Councils of America, for the national high school competition.

The game is unique to the World Affairs Councils system and has no direct competitor among K-12 knowledge-based competitions in the United States or abroad. It is a flagship program of the World Affairs Councils of America. Invented by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, the game is now widely played at the adult and high school levels around the country.

Metro Atlanta Academic WorldQuest
Co-sponsored by Georgia State University and the World Affairs Councils of Atlanta, Metro Atlanta Academic WorldQuest is the local competition held annually to test metro high school students’ international knowledge and to determine the Metro Atlanta WorldQuest high school team that will represent the metro area at the national competition.

Teams of four interested high school students from grades 9-12. Teams may be accompanied by a faculty coach. Each school may enter two teams.
The competition involves 10 rounds of 10 multiple choice questions, each focused on specified competition topics. Answers are submitted by round, and the team with the highest overall points wins. The winning team then travels to the national competition to represent Metro Atlanta.
The winning team receives the trip to Washington, D.C., for the national competition. Medals and trophies are awarded to the first, second and third place teams, while all students are awarded Certificates of Participation and tee shirts.
Since 2007, Metro Atlanta Academic WorldQuest has benefited from broad support from the community; local, national and international businesses; and Georgia State University. AirTran Airways has donated tickets for team travel. Subaru and Kimberly-Clark have provided major support along with donations from Kroger, Publix, UPS, Newell Rubbermaid, Georgia Council on International Visitors, CARE USA, Fernbank Museum, TW Lord and Associates, and many more.

We are extremely grateful to the sponsors of the 2015 Metro Atlanta WorldQuest Competition.
